Likud MK Ayub Kara met with Mansour Abbas, chairman of the United Arab List (Ra'am).

Kara believes that those who oppose the UAL's joining with the right-wing parties do not understand Arab culture.

"Netanyahu has taken tremendous steps in the past year to promote peace with the Arab world. He is the first prime minister to actively reach out to the Arab public, despite the public health crisis." Kara said.

Kara explained that the UAL party withdrew from the Joint List and ran independently for the Knesset on the grounds that the Joint List is too extreme to truly help the Arab public.

"As expected, the Likud did not receive many votes in the Arab sector and also lost votes to Bennett and Smotrich for that reason. The Likud does not resent this; we believe it beneficial to the State of Israel that there is a moderate option for the Arab public. Mansour and his party should be welcomed as the first step towards addressing problems in the Arab sector."

Kara called on those attacking the possible union with the UAL to exercise a certain degree of restraint. "Smotrich and others attacking this party do not understand how the Arab culture works. We need to bring them closer to the mainstream political dialogue, not pepper them with empty accusations." Kara nevertheless wishes the detractors a Happy Passover.
