A new NBA website has observers wondering whether the league has taken a side in the Israeli-Arab conflict.

A new website the league set up for the 2018 All-Star Game in Los Angeles enables fans to vote for their favorite players. After the vote, fans are directed to a page where they are instructed to pick which country they are from. While the website lists Israel, it also lists the "Occupied Palestinian Territories".

Fans only became aware of the option when they tried to vote for Israeli NBA player Omri Casspi. Hadashot 2 said that league officials were unable to comment as they were on Christmas vacation.

Such terminology is often used by Israel's enemies to describe Judea and Samaria and is offensive to many Israelis, who feel that it negates the Jewish claims to its historical homeland.

In August, 16 NBA stars came to Israel for its Basketball Without Borders initiative, which tries to solve regional conflicts through sports. NBA commissioner Adam Silver traveled to Israel to be a part of the program, with Hall of Famer David Robinson headlining the list of former players taking part in the camp. Other NBA players participating at the camp included Jerryd Bayless, Sam Dekker and Norman Powell.
