Magen David Adom summarized its main activities over the past year in numbers, as it celebrated its 90th year on the eve of the New Year:
30,000 volunteers, employees and National Service volunteers, 10,000 Youth Volunteers. 17,700 Life Guardians, 27,000 COVID 19 Ambassadors. 1,500 new employees were hired. 2.6 million volunteer hours from MDA volunteers. The oldest volunteer is 89, the youngest volunteer is 15.
180 total stations and satellite stations, 11 new stations were opened in the last year. 2,000 ambulances and MICUs stationed around Israel, 76 4x4 ambulances, 18 ATV ambulances, 9 jeep-bulances, 2 bus-bulances, 48 bulletproof MICUs and ambulances, 5 lighting vehicles, 3 corona vaccine and testing caravans, 2 mobile MDA stations-.
600 medi-cycles, 33 intercity medi-cycles, 150 electric medi-cycles, 40 MERVs, 6 Segway, 1 boat-bulance. 3,456,450 corona samples for testing were taken by MDA teams, 1,616,349 of which at Drive and Test facilities, 58,948 students had samples taken in schools, to date, MDA has vaccinated 60,000 people.
1,046,358 emergency callouts- MDA teams were dispatched every 30 seconds. 609,471 patients were treated by MDA teams, 35,382 of which were from motor vehicle collisions. 254 drowning victims were treated by MDA teams, 14,429 pregnant women were evacuated to the hospital- 902 births were assisted by MDA teams.
250,000 people were trained in CPR and First Aid, 507 Youth Volunteers were trained in MCI response, 660 Youth Volunteers were trained as instructors. 269,958 units of blood were collected by MDA’s Blood Services, 31.5% of blood donors were women, 19% of donors were first time donors, 27% of blood units were collected in IDF bases. MDA’s Blood Services operates 42 blood mobiles. 14,430 units of convalescent plasma were collected from recovered COVID-19 patients, 3,748 units were given to 1,892 corona patients in moderate and severe condition (2 per patient).
122 wishes were granted by the Wish Ambulance. MDA operates 2 ICU helicopters 278 victims were evacuated by the helicopters. 1 National Mobile Command Vehicle, 3 Regional Mobile Command Vehicles. MDA teams partook in over 100 emergency preparedness drills. Over 8,000,000 calls were received in MDA’s 101 Emergency Call Center of which 4,369,738 were received on the emergency line- a call was received on average every 7.2 seconds with the average answer time standing at 4 seconds. MDA placed 641 AEDs in public areas in 307 communities around Israel.
