Ronen Bar, Israel's new Shabak (Israel Security Agency) chief, met secretly last week with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.

The meeting took place in Ramallah, and was the first meeting between the two since Bar took office last month.

Among other things, the two spoke about security coordination and the efforts to reach an agreement in Gaza.

In September, Defense Minister Benny Gantz (Blue and White) met with Abbas, telling him: "I want to be the new Rabin, but this government has limitations."

In October, Abbas met with government ministers from the left-wing Meretz party, asking them to convey to Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked, both of Yamina, that he would like to meet with them.
